What to Expect on Delivery Day

Your Government agency pays for a normal delivery spread that is established by the Government. Your delivery is dependent upon the amount you are moving and the mileage your shipment is being transported. Your Planes Relocation Counselor will help you determine the delivery timeframe prior to your move dates. Once your shipment is loaded on the truck, your Planes Relocation Counselor will stay in communication with you to let you of the Estimated Time of Arrival for your household good belongings. Once the van operator arrives this is what you can expect:

  • This part of the move we highly recommend you are present so that you can verify everything arrived in good condition and direct them where you want your items placed. If you have someone else there to accept your household goods you could be open to having your claim denied because they did not follow the proper delivery procedures i.e. do a check off of the inventory.

  • Where appropriate, our crews will place floor protection in your home before delivering.

  • The van operator will give you a Bingo Sheet, if he does not, ask for one. This is the most important sheet you will utilize at the time of delivery. It is used to check off the inventoried items as they come off the truck. You have the right to waive the check off process however if you do and there are missing items your claim will be denied. Therefore it is in your best interest to use the Bingo Sheet because it will clearly state which items you did not receive.

  • You will also direct the crew regarding placement of items in rooms. The Government will only pay for single placement of your furniture and boxes. They will not pay for re-arranging furniture.

  • If you notice any damage to an item, please find the appropriate sticker number on the inventory sheet and notate the damage on that line. Remember, if you don’t notice a damaged item right away, you still have 75 days from the delivery date to file any claims.

  • After checking off the Bingo Sheet, if you notice items missing, let the van operator know. Do not check off that item until you actually see the appropriate sticker number.

  • The driver will reassemble anything he disassembled at origin.

  • If you notice any damages to your residence you must document it on the van operator’s paperwork at the time the damage occurs or the residence damage claim will be denied.

Unpacking

  • Your Government agency pays for unpacking services which is removing the contents from the cartons and placing them on floors, counters, tables, etc., but NOT putting them away.

  • They will also dispose of paper and cartons.

  • If you want unpacking services please let your Planes Relocation Counselor know before your move dates because this service is not automatically set up.

Carton Removal

  • In lieu of unpacking your Government agency will pay for one carton removal. This involves a crew coming in after you have unpacked all of your household goods and picking up all the paper and cartons.
